It’s been a hellish couple of weeks for immigrant families in Maine and across the country.
The president’s cruel rhetoric—claiming they “contribute nothing” and “just run around killing each other”—is abhorrent, offensive, and incredibly dangerous.
Trump’s hateful comments contradict everything we know about our new neighbors.
To all our immigrant neighbors: You are wanted. You are valued members of our communities. You belong here. We will continue to fight for you.

On Monday, I toured the Scarborough ICE facility to get answers about why attorneys are being denied access to their clients for routine check-ins.
The contractor in charge of the check-ins wasn’t even there—despite my specific request.
They claimed there’s not enough space for attorneys, but that’s just bullshit. We saw firsthand that there’s plenty of room.
People are being asked to sign documents they don’t understand without legal counsel present. That’s a violation of due process.
I’ll keep fighting for transparency and accountability, especially as the Trump Administration ramps up its immigration enforcement policies.
